چکیده

We report the photo-induced transmission change of the photonic crystal slab in which an active semiconductor, (C6H5C2H4NH3)2PbI4, is introduced. In the transmission spectrum without irradiating the pump light, sharp dips are observed, which are attributed to the excitation of exciton-polaritons (mixed modes of excitons in the embedded semiconductor and quasi-guided optical modes) in the slab. It is found that, by pumping below the exciton resonance, the dips blue-shift transiently during the irradiation of the pump light (200 fs). By pumping at the exciton resonance, the dips blue-shift and are bleached with a decay time of about 10 ps. These phenomena are explained on the basis of the excitonic nonlinearity.

Towards R-Space Bose-Einstein Condensation of Photonic Crystal Exciton Polaritons

Coupled states of semiconductor quantum well (QW) excitons and photons in a two dimensional (2D) periodic lattice of microcavities are analyzed theoretically, revealing allowed bands and forbidden gaps in the energy spectrum of exciton polaritons. Photonic crystal exciton polaritons have spatially uniform excitonic constituent set by flat QWs, but exhibit periodic Bloch oscillations in the plan...

Light-trapping for room temperature Bose-Einstein condensation in InGaAs quantum wells.

We demonstrate the possibility of room-temperature, thermal equilibrium Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of exciton-polaritons in a multiple quantum well (QW) system composed of InGaAs quantum wells surrounded by InP barriers, allowing for the emission of light near telecommunication wavelengths. The QWs are embedded in a cavity consisting of double slanted pore (SP2) photonic crystals composed...

Gap maps, diffraction losses, and exciton–polaritons in photonic crystal slabs

A theory of photonic crystal (PhC) slabs is described, which relies on an expansion in the basis of guided modes of an effective homogeneous waveguide and on treating the coupling to radiative modes and the resulting losses by perturbation theory. The following applications are discussed for the case of a high-index membrane: gap maps for photonic lattices in a waveguide; exciton–polariton stat...

Exciton-polariton emission from organic semiconductor optical waveguides

We photoexcite slab polymer waveguides doped with J-aggregating dye molecules and measure the leaky emission from strongly coupled waveguide exciton polariton modes at room temperature. We show that the momentum of the waveguide exciton polaritons can be controlled by modifying the thickness of the excitonic waveguide. Nonresonantly pumped excitons in the slab excitonic waveguide decay into tra...

Polaritonic Feshbach resonance

A Feshbach resonance occurs when the energy of two interacting free particles comes into resonance with a molecular bound state. When approaching this resonance, marked changes in the interaction strength between the particles can arise. Feshbach resonances provide a powerful tool for controlling the interactions in ultracold atomic gases, which can be switched from repulsive to attractive1–4, ...
